Detroit Pistons sign Nazr Mohammed for five years, $30 million; Portland Trailblazers re-sign Joel Przybilla for five years, $32 million
Is Nenê worth $4 million more per season than either of these guys? Anway, I know I raked Joe Dumars over the coals on Tuesday for losing all three of Okur, Darko and Big Ben, but Mohammed at $6 million per season is arguably more palatable than Wallace at $12 million or more per season. While Detroit's defence obviously takes a big hit, they'll finally have a center who can convert scoring opportunities and hit the occasional free throw.

The Przybilla signing is unexpected, to say the least. I understand that he loves the city, but there has to be more to this than meets the eye. First, I assume he didn't receive a substantially better offer from any other team, mostly because Toronto and Chicago had already made other arrangements. I also have to assume that Blazers management promised that they would sell the contracts of Zach Randolph and Darius Miles to the Amsterdam Demon Astronauts. (As it turns out, my initial purpose for this joke – the obvious marijuana punchline – has been completely overshadowed by the absolutely real name of that team. I can't even stand how awesome that is.)

New Orleans Hornets sign Bobby Jackson (undisclosed terms), trade P.J. Brown and J.R. Smith to Chicago for Tyson Chandler
So much for the Garnett-to-Chicago scenario I proposed on Tuesday. Guess they just wanted to get rid of Tyson's $50-plus million contract. As for the Hornets, they won 38 games last season with Chris Paul, David West and some duct tape, so I think it's safe to say they're going to be a playoff team next season. If I'm a Hornets fan, I'm trying very hard not to focus on the fact that my team now has $100 million invested into Peja Stojakovic and Tyson Chandler.

Jorge Garbajosa se comprometió el miércoles con los Raptors por tres temporadas
My Spanish is a little rusty, but I think that translates to "Jorge Garbajosa has agreed to sign with the Raptors for three seasons." From what I've read, he's a 28-year-old, six-nine power forward with limited athleticism but good perimeter shooting. Not much to get excited about, I suppose, but on the upside, this column claims that he was called "Porn Player" when he played for Unicaja Malaga in the Spanish league because he did everything "obscenely well". Anyone want to lay odds on Chuck Swirsky bellowing "The Porn Player just delivered a nasty facial!"
