This stat is one of my favorites because it's so straightforward and easy to understand. Total rebound percentage (also known as "rebound rate") is the percentage of available rebounds grabbed by a particular player. It takes pace factor and minutes played out of the equation and focuses strictly on what percentage of missed shots a player grabs while he's on the court.
As with every stat, there are mitigating factors, of course. If you're a big man and your frontcourt partner is Clifford Robinson (8.4 career TRB%), then you're going to have more rebounding opportunities. If your frontcourt partner is Dwight Howard (20.4% for his career), then you'll have fewer opportunities.
There isn't much else to say about this stat, so I'll offer you the surprising piece of info that Chris Bosh was only the second-best rebounder on the Raptors last season at 14.2%. The Raptors' best rebounder -- by a decent margin -- was the much-maligned Kris "Big Sexy" Humphries at 16.4%.
You're probably wondering about Andrea Bargnani's TRB%, so I went to 82games.com and saw that Bargnani apparently played the most Raptors minutes at power forward (Bosh was considered a center for most of his court time). With that in mind, here is where Bargnani's rebounding ranked among the primary power forwards on each team. Note that everybody who finished behind Bargnani were not natural power forwards.
