Scene: Toronto's Emergency Task Force (ETF) is at the scene of a hostage situation. Staff Inspector Sam Mitchell is in charge and his team — featuring new officer Lt. Jason Kapono — are situated in the building across the street from the hostage and his captor. Mitchell: All right, Kapono, you're the best shat on my team so I want you to take out the suspect right now. Kapono: I don't know, boss, he's got his arm right around the hostage holding him against his body. That's a pretty tough shot. What if I miss? Mitchell: Kapono, you're the best shat I've ever seen in the history of the ETF. I've seen your targets from training and if anybody can make this shat, it's you. Kapono: Well, yeah, but... I really don't feel comfortable shooting unless I have a totally clean look. Mitchell: What is it, the angle? Get into a different position where you can create a shat you like! Kapono: Oh, no, boss. I don't create my own shots. I need to get set up in place and then wait to take the shot once it's just right. That's what I'm good at. Mitchell: Look, we don't always have the luxury of waiting for the perfect shat, Kapono! Sometimes you just need to take the shat in front of you and hope for the best! Kapono: I... I can't do it. I'm sorry. Lt. Carlos Delfino: Don't bother with that chicken, boss. I'll take the shot right now. Mitchell: Ohhh, no you won't Delfino. First of all, you've got a horrible angle from there. You can barely see the suspect from where you're lined up. Secondly, you've already killed two hostages this month. Delfino: Relax, boss. I got this one. Delfino pulls the trigger and shoots the hostage in the face. Mitchell: Damn it, Delfino! What did I tell you? Delfino: Whoops! Well, I'll get the next one. Kapono: OK, I've got a clean look now, boss. Should I take the shot? Mitchell: The hostage is dead, Kapono. We blew it. Some of the other guys are entering the building right now to arrest the suspect. Kapono: Well in that case, I'm gonna go back to the shooting range again. Mitchell: You know, maybe you should work on some other things for a change, Kapono. If all you can do is shoot when you have a completely open look, you're not much good to the team. Delfino: Hey boss, look! That guy just took a can of soda from a hot dog vendor without paying for it. I'm gonna take him out. Mitchell: DELFINO! NOOOOOOO! Fin. |
