Aside from the somewhat condescending tone of the headline, Doug Smith gives some interesting background in today's blog post about how he decides whether or not to publish a trade rumor. I suspect he's taking a potshot at sites like Hoopsworld in a roundabout way, and I can't say I blame him. That whole hubbub about the Bargnani-Howard rumor was irritating as hell — particularly since 12 different people asked me about it and I was sure that it was false.

Michael Grange took a lot of heat in this RealGM thread for suggesting that the Raptors should try to trade O'Neal and Parker to the Knicks for Marbury and Malik Rose, tank the rest of the season and then take advantage of the cap space from the expiring contracts. This is pretty much what I've been advocating the Raptors should do for the past week. I think there are a lot of Raptors fans in deep denial about how far this team can go with its current roster or what kind of trades Colangelo can make with this personnel that would dramatically improve this team. It's time to rebuild — the sooner, the better.

Here are the latest All-Star voting numbers. LeBron and K.G. lead the voting for Eastern forwards and Chris Bosh is fourth among Eastern forwards with 751,927 votes. In third place? Yi Jianlian with 1,216,348 votes. While some of you will undoubtedly be upset that Yi is killing Bosh in the voting, I just want to see Yi get more votes than "Mr. Intensity".

I always wondered why more fans don't bring their own whistles to games just to mess with the players. I mean, I get that it's not allowed — I'm just surprised I don't hear about more people doing it.

Is some team going to sign Darius Miles just to fuck over the Blazers? Among the riled-up commenters, one actually has a sensible idea: "I'm wondering why Paul Allen doesn't just give Miles a couple million under the table, a big sack of weed and a gift card to Cold Stone Creamery to just go away."

I'm enjoying the mental state of Celtics Nation right now.
