The last Raptors game of the season that matters

The Orlando Magic have only lost seven out of 36 home games going into tonight's match-up with the Raptors. Those seven losses came against Atlanta, Portland, Houston, Boston, Dallas, Denver and Detroit (the only sub-.500 team in the group). Their last home loss, against the Pistons, occurred on Feb. 27 and they've won seven in a row at home since then.

This isn't a Cavs or Lakers home game — it's actually possible for a decent team to go into Orlando and steal a win. So is this healthy Raptors squad — as it's currently comprised — actually decent? More importantly, can they convince me that they shouldn't be broken up after this season?

Tonight's game is the only one of the remaining nine games in the Raptors' season that could actually convince me that Bryan Colangelo shouldn't trade Chris Bosh, let Shawn Marion walk, and replace Jay Triano after the season. The only other decent team they face in the remaining games is Atlanta, and that game takes place in Toronto so a Raptors win wouldn't impress me all that much.

Just to be clear, I like Bosh, Marion and Triano. I don't have any kind of ironclad belief that getting rid of these guys is the only reasonable course of action moving forward. I would very much like to believe that this particular group can be a legitimate force when they get a chance to play together for an entire season.

But I need a win tonight if I'm going to change my mind that this particular roster is a lost cause. Is it reasonable for me to base this kind of decision on one game? Of course not! Remember that "fan" is short for "fanatic" — so why would you expect me to be reasonable?
