This is admittedly a toss-off post because I don't have time to write anything extensive today, but with Chris Bosh having a career year and becoming the Raptors' all-time scoring leader I've been wondering about his place among the elite in the NBA. Specifically, do most of you agree that Chris Bosh is now officially a "Top 10 Player"?
In order to figure that out, we must first eliminate the guys who are clearly above Chris Bosh in the NBA hierarchy. Those guys have to include LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul and Tim Duncan. The inclusion of Duncan in that group might surprise you, but he's been quietly having his best season since his prime years. If you think Chris Bosh deserves to be included in that group, then you're a homer and your opinion will be disregarded.
The second tier of players is where it gets interesting. In that tier, I include Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, Brandon Roy and Josh Smith. (Some of you will surely choose to replace Josh Smith with Joe Johnson in that group. We'll agree to disagree.) Did I miss anyone? I left out Kevin Garnett because I'm not convinced you can count on him to stay healthy anymore.
I'm sure we can agree that Bosh deserves to be included in that tier of players. But in order for him to be considered "Top 10", he needs to be ranked higher than three of those seven guys. Where would you put him?
In the comments, rank your Top 13 out of the two tiers of players I listed, or give me a damn good reason why somebody I haven't mentioned should be included in that group. Bosh goes 10th on my list, ahead of Roy, Gasol and Smith.
