No more teaching music. I was only doing 2 mornings a week since 2004 anyways. This would have been my 20th year. The politics were killing me.
And I always find that people that cant make their point intelligently resort to swearing. Like comedians who cant make a decent joke and have to swear. Guess I'm pretentious that way. (By the way, I was thinking about this very thing driving home from volleyball...I was disappointed in myself) |

So you don't think Chris Rock is funny or intelligent, then? I know I'm hijacking this thread, but it's much more interesting then complaining about the weather and I've long been fascinated by people who have a real problem with swearing and aren't obvious religious freaks. |

First, you need to remember how old I am. (45 for the rest of you)
When I was in HS, the shackles were just coming off people and swearing. You guys all grew up with it everywhere. I remember hearing in about 1975 , George Carlin doing the "7 Words you cant say on TV" . We use to skip ahead to hear him say the words. It was outrages! Then every comedian had to say "effing this...effing that...etc" through their whole routine. Of course, these were only found on bootleg sources (cassettes) ...no mainstream TV would touch it. Just swearing was the joke. It wasnt funny at all....just shocking. You cant imagine what was being said in the school yards and locker rooms. Numskulls everywhere had found their mighty sword! Basically, I saw a lot of people resorting to swearing instead of having a valid point. I didnt want to be that guy. Call me a prude if you wish...I'm hardly a religious freak. Or you can just go $%&%*% yourself. |

Chris Rock is amazing. Sometimes cuss words is part of the personality, not the joke. I hear you. Some have figured out how to do it effectively. I was watching part of Southpark:Bigger,Longer,Uncut and there is tons of potty mouth...and it's funnier than shiznak. Guess I was tainted by those early buttwipes that just did it for shock value. |

(By the way, I was thinking about this very thing driving home from volleyball...I was disappointed in myself) So the question is, do you have to give yourself a two week ban? I don't swear much, it's mostly because I sound dorky when I do, if I sounded cooler, I might do it more. |

Haven't sworn in over 4 years (made a conscious effort not to). Not a religious freak either. I also could care less if I hear someone swearing; it doesn't bother me as this was a personal decision that I only hold myself accountable to.
I think I find it a challenge to see if I can (better) control my reactions and emotions. Believe me, it's very tiring mentally, especially when friends and family swear left, right and centre all around me. Although, it does make me wonder: if I say "frig" instead of "f_ _ k", does that make a difference? I mean, the intent of the word is there, I just substituted it with another word. Then I start to wonder: what exactly is a "swear word"? Is it just words they are not allowed to say on TV? Cause they say all sorts of words on TV. (No, I'm not high or anything, but this whole no-swearing rule I instituted to myself make me rationalize all sorts of ways). Other than that, I'm excited about snow. I like snow |

I like snow I umm, don't do that. If I feel like swearing I do it. Of course I try to use it sparingly, and accomodate it towards the people I'm around. |
