Full Version: OIIIIIIILLLLLLERS!

Scott
OK, it's time to come out. I'm a closet Oilers fan. I've been an Oilers fan since I was 5 years old. I stopped watching hockey when the NHL became boring in the 90s and the Oilers would inevitably lose in the first round every year. But the salary cap and the rule changes have saved the NHL, and the cream can once again rise to the top.

A first overall pick for the Raptors and a 3-0 series lead for the Oilers in the semis? Today was a good day.

I was getting nervous towards the end of the game -- I wasn't sure Edmonton could hang on, but they did. Go for the SWEEP!!!

The NHL and NBA playoffs are great this year -- I am definitely one satisfied fan.

What the hell? Is the world coming to an end?

Hold on, if Edmonton wins the Cup, how many Calgary fans will jump off a bridge?

Calgary fans will be rooting for Edmonton over every other team in the playoffs. Canadian hockey fans stick together. They don't want any American team to win the Cup over any Canadian team - regardless of rivalries. It's an interesting sociological phenomenon but it's definitely there.

I dunno. I just came back from Alberta a couple of days ago, and the feeling I got was that Calgary fans were definitely not rooting for the Oilers. The rivalry seemed pretty deep to me. But maybe they were still bitter from being eliminated from the playoffs and will eventually come around.

I love watching NHL playoff hockey... but I only can watch a couple regular season matchups.

The thing I like about the NHL is that there is no clear winner every single year. Right now the final four teams are all "underdogs" and were never expected to get this far.

Every time a Canadian team starts doing well in the playoffs, the more of those car flags I see here. Last time it was Flames flags, now it's the Oilers ones.

Please. The new Rule Changes didn't do anything. There's a reason why no one in the US cares. I would also like to point out that Edmonton is by far and away the worst city in Canada, never go there unless you're forced to at gun point.
sim_city87
I would like to point out that the ECF is very entertaining.

Really? I find it unwatchable, and I used to be a huge hockey fan.

f*** hockey. The NHL should've tanked.
PBI
Go Sabres/Hurricanes!
Miyagi
Go someone win the Stanley Cup so I do not have to be overloaded with hockey on the sports channels!
alchemist
Man, I feel like I've been waiting forever for the Oilers to play again. I hope this long rest hasn't broken their momentum.

Just a couple more days till the finals!!!
Miyagi
Go Edmonton Oilers! rockout.gif
god
HA, It's over, sux to be an Oiler fan.
No goalie = no win
alchemist
^^ I know, they might as well concede the series right now.
Shevy
im thinking they lose once more, and come back with a vengence when they return to edmonton, where their fans will give them the energy carolina will have no answer for.
PBI
Sorry Scott sad.gif. Maybe the Edmontom Oilers will get another shot at the Stanley Cup when Max is getting ready for the prom? shrug.gif
sim_city87
Well, that went well. So, I wonder who the Leafs are gonna sign with all that mon... oh nevermind.

Wow, your an ass.

"We" being from Edmonton, looked ok today, definately much better than the last game, I think if the Oilers continue playing like this we'll have a decent chance to bounce back from 0-2 again even without Rollie.
PBI
They're still alive.

In case you didn't notice, this thread is in a section called "Other Sports", in which members of this forum can make threads, and by extension, subsequently discuss, other sports than basketball. This thread is called "OIIIIIIILLLLLLERS!", so one would have to assume that the topic being discussed would be the Edmonton Oilers hockey team, as there is currently no other sports team that goes by this moniker. Thus, it can be assumed that, since the thread is called "OIIIIIIILLLLLLERS!", and that the thread is in the section appropriately titled "Other Sports", that the thread would be allowed under the current rules of the RaptorBlog.com. Now, we can't always assume everything, so I happened to check the 12302983794390832 page Raptorblog.com rulebook, and in Section 321A, Article 2.1 it states that "Users are allowed to discuss sports and athletes not pertaining to basketball in the section of the forum aptly titled Other Sports."

As well, this thread was started by the user named "Scott". Coincidentally, Section 1, Article 1 of the Raptorblog.com rulebook explicitly states that "The forum is headmastered and administrated by the poster Scott, the founder and creator of RaptorBlog.com, and he can do to RaptorBlog.com as he sees fit." So, even if he had broken the rules, it would not matter, as he is above the rules and all those who follow them.

Do I make myself clear?

Sim, it's nice to see you care and that you're trying...but really, don't bother...

Ugh...now I'm in a "Why does Canada suck at everything?" mood. ninja.gif

I'm really happy for Cam Ward though, what a great rookie season he's had.

Anyone else find it hilarious how for the second straight season a team with no fan base whatsoever other than people who get tickets to the game beat a Canadian team? It's like losing your girl to a gay guy.

Yeah, but you forget that girls like gay guys because they're pretty much the same person...
