Efman - you should have let me start the thread. We're 3-0 this season when I do so rockout.gif

I haven't posted in a while due to the nausea I feel when watching Raptors games but I feel like we might be turning a corner here. Detroit is in a state of Flux and just like Efman said it's heat check time!

Did anyone else not see Weems overtaking Marco's spot on the bench? he's streaky but wow he has been Kapono-ish as of late.
forsakenMarz
It's not just Marco's spot that's gone. Wright has been completely out of the picture the last couple of games. And Marco's nowhere near Kapono-ish yet. Even when his shot's not falling, he makes Amir Johnson better on the court offensively.

I will give you that.

I was never sold on Wright from the start, I think even if he was playing ok Demar still needs that starting spot to really develop.

I think Detroit is losing pretty bad tonight to the Bobcats. It looks like they are relying on Stuckey alot right now with all the injuries so if Jack has a solid defensive game Detroit may have a hard time scoring though I have a feeling Charlie V may make me eat my words as he has hurt us in the past.

If we lose to this NBDL team, I'll never start a game thread again.

bosh and CV always have a little back-and-forth going on in these games, fun to see.

sadly I'll be on the 401 heading to Christmastowne. Go Raps! and happy holidays everyone.

So I take it y'all were either last-minute christmas shopping or didn't have TSN2? Ah well, chalk another one up for the win column smile.gif

Both actually....

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Nice win, anything but a methodical blowout would have been a disappointment considering Gordon, Rip and Prince were out.

Random question, is it time to seriously start considering a Calderon trade?
forsakenMarz
I already posted a potential Calderon trade in the official crappy trade scenarios: Jose for Felton and Gerland Henderson. Felton's contract is expiring so we could choose not to resign him. Henderson's a rookie that hasn't gotten much burn since SJax got brought into Charlotte.

Another one could be Jose to Memphis for Conley and Steven Hunter (expiring contract) and possibly a pick. Memphis isn't happy with Conley as is evident with the Tinsley signing, and he's still on his rookie contract through the 10/11 season + qualifying offer. Steven Hunter expires this season for close to 4 million. The move gives us much better cap flexibility in case we have to facilitate a Bosh trade or if the salary cap takes a bigger hit than expected come end of season. Then our salary committed to PGs would be about 13 million vs the 17 million we have invested. Also Banks' contract expires with Conley's so we can decide what to do for the backup PG situation in a years time.

For the first couple weeks i was not too happy with Jack's play. Lately he has imporved and i am more comfortable watching him run the show than Jose and his horrendous Defence. Jack is a backup but a better starter than Jose also Mr Banks has done a decent job as backup

Your not half bad there Marz.

I really like that idea but does Charlotte really want Calderon? The Bobcats haven't had a dynamic play making point guard or a system that requires one so having that extra shooter in Calderon may help them. With SJax and Jose they could try and run the same system we were flirting with and have Jose off the ball a lot.

Jonathan - congrats first of all on your new contract with the Knicks.

The insertion of athleticism into the line-up has really proven to be working, so any trade for Calderon needs to get athleticism back. We don't even necessarily need a very good point guard in return - Turk is obviously happiest running the show, and as of the 2nd quarter Triano can mix and match Jack and Turk depending on match-ups, rest time etc... with Banks coming in to add defense and leaving offense to Turk. As much as I like Calderon, the team has clearly stagnated in the past two seasons with him running the show, and there needs to be a change.

Memphis and LA seem like two good trade partners, if only because they have athleticism and the Gasols who might want to play with Jose. If we get an expiring contract back and somehow manage to get the space next off-season to keep Bosh and sign a very good slasher/scorer, then even better

We need at minimum a second string PG in return. Banks is not a second-string PG, and I'm not about to hand the reigns over to Jack and Banks after only a handful of good games.
