In light of Bosh setting the franchise scoring mark last night, I'd be interested to hear what everyone thinks of this article posted a few days ago. Since Doug Smith disdains his readers more than any other journalist alive, I'd also like to post this here so that when Bosh bolts this summer, we have a good record of Smith getting an egg in his face.

As you've probably guessed by now, I don't care for Doug Smith, nor do I believe there is a chance in hell Bosh is staying. This has nothing to do with Bosh not wanting to play in Canada, as some (particularly at ESPN - surprise surprise - are already saying). And while I appreciate that what Bosh says in this article is probably genuine, to me the facts are the facts - we haven't won a playoff series in Bosh's tenure here, the "core" of this team is good but not even top 4 in the east good, and we're maxed out for a while as an organization unless there is a serious jump in the salary cap (oh and our draft record is terrible, our key signing this summer is over 30 already, and we have never really addressed the lack of athleticism and grit on the roster).

How much of this being the result of the team being constructed around Bosh is debatable, but for the sake of playing devil's advocate lets assume Bosh is a top 15 guy in the league and has never played with another all-star in his tenure here. He has a chance to either go to a team like Chicago where he may end up in a similar situation, or else New York or Miami where they are bound to construct great rosters in the years ahead.

Bosh is certainly saying all the right things right now, and like anything in life there is a chance he stays of course because of money. However, I doubt we're winning a playoff series this year and nor do I think Calderon, Bargnani, or Jack are on the verge of super-stardom, so to me this article is just a nice filler piece during an off-day.

What I just can't get over is how Smith in the tone of the article implies "see, Bosh does love us, he's leaning toward staying!!!!!" when all he mentions are generalities.

Does anyone know how long it took VC to score as many points as he did compared to how long it took Bosh to do it.

Bosh still is below average defender. He needs to improve in that department before he can be a legitimate superstar.

Something like 52 games less...

Good post Coffee...
I can easily find 15 players as good or better than Chris Bosh. Therefore id rather not build a team around him. Id rather build a team around a top 5 player. The odds of being a Championship contender are much greater. Chris Bosh is a great talent but can easily be replaced at his soon to be salary
Efman
Not so sure he can be replaced, but as many have said around here, you need some spectacular pieces around Bosh to go far. And Bargs/Hedo/Jose are not those pieces.

I dont know the solution. Maybe Bosh needs to go down for 10 games to see how everyone plays. Sorta like how everyone is playing better with Jose down.

Meh, he's just a guy. We're not going to win a playoff series with him as a centerpiece and committing $130 million to him just sounds absurd. No one will lose any sleep over his impending free agency like they did with Carter in the summer of 2001.

He'll be missed, yes. But his skill can certainly be replaced for max money

Bosh for Bynum

Should BC do it?
CV31
No to the Bynum trade. It seems the whole NBA other than Toronto thinks Bosh is leaving. At the beginning of the season I thought Bosh was leaving but as the season goes on and I hear the things he is saying. I think he is gonna stay. I dont know that there are 15 players better than Bosh. If so would like to see you guys put the 15 names up on the board. Doesnt really do much for your point when you dont back it up with some names.

Unless the Raptors miss the playoffs i guarantee Bosh will resign. He wants to be the MAIN guy and he wont be the MAIN guy if he leaves.

There is NO way he is traded before the deadline unless its something that knocks BC socks off and Bynum isnt that guy

Peter Vecsey is a f***ing moron who just makes crap up to get stories. How the f*** is chris bosh on the trading block??

Even if Bosh leaves this offseaon he will not just sign a contract with another team he will do a sign and trade seeing that he will make more money that way.

Vecsey has no f***ing clue how often does he watch the Raptors? he has no idea what going on.

P.S I heard there was gonna be a three team deal in which the Raps get KObe and Lebron. Print it its news

Bynum has a riddled injury history, no thank you. Also the article seems like more of a "here's a possible trade scenario" rather than a "these are the rumours coming from the TO front office"... in other words some other genius with a trade checker is creating ideas.
