The Grizz have a giant killer mentality to them, if their firing on all cylinders they can really rack up the points. We are on a 8-0 winning streak at home and for once it's nice to have full confidence in the Raptors to lay down a savage beating against Memphis and their All-star.

We're 3-0 on Triano's "winnable games because the other team is slacking" schedule, but the Grizzlies beat us earlier in the season after we just came off a gigantic win over the Cavs. What's to say they don't snap our 8 game home winning streak?

Just have to shake off the rust. I say we have the lead by halftime. Bosh needs to be more aggressive though for us to win.

Feb 17 2010, 07:44 PM
Yep rust is starting to fall off and the Grizz may have a sweet starting five, but their bench is pretty weak.

wright's injury cost us getting the victory in regulation
not driving to the hoop also hurt us, but we're still in the thick of things.
here's hoping that the raps get it done

The Raptors finally get unlucky in a close game, that hasn't happened in a long time.

All they had to do was hang on for 37 seconds. 37 seconds with a 5 point lead and they decide to start celebrating. Fucking Raptors. Way to blow a win.

How badly did Turk cost us the game tonight? 0-5 FG, 3 turnovers, and an ill-advised three early in the shot clock in crunch time. I have to question Triano's decision to put him back in in the 4th.

I was just checking in to see if Turk's game was as bad as his mindboggling stat line would suggest. I don't usually pay too close attention to plus/minus in basketball, but -29 is horrible.

Yes Turk was bad.
Raps with the 5pt lead deep into the 4th but didn't keep attacking, allowing the Grizz to hit a 3 & then a basket in transition to tie... Once it got into OT, it was anybody's game & the Grizz hit shots when it counted most (R.Gay). Tuff loss for sure as the Raps let this one get away.
Jose & Amir off the bench have really given the Raps some bigtime energy. Both played very well tonight & were the reason the Raps were able to get back into the game after the horrible start. Jose's best roll maybe coming off the bench ala Jason Terry & Manu G.
Bargs had some nice post-up baskets on quick duck-ins & quick turn-around jumpers. DO IT MORE!
Grizz have a nice group of players: R.Gay, O.J., Mike Jr., Gasol, ZBo. If they can keep the core together & happy, the future looks pretty good in Memphis

What a terrible, TERRIBLE signing.

It is terrible and a franchise crippling mistake by BC. All this money tied up in an over the hill player who thinks he is much better than he actually is.
I love it when Turk is NOT in the lineup. I'd much rather see more Weems, Wright or even Banks getting his minutes. These young guys have brought the hustle and athleticism that the Raps need and are much more valuable to this team than Turkey.

Epic Phail!
Turk has not found his groove yet. When he does, he will win some games for us.
And there are far worse crippling signings around the league. Turk will justify some day.
Since I was watching on my iPhone, can someone tell me why Jack sat so much? Was he that bad?

Jose was just playing better, getting everyone involved.
Bargs blew a couple or three shots from 2 ft. Hey guy - you're 7ft tall. Just dunk.
Turk .. I was so depressed every time he hit the floor. what the fvck was he doing out there in crunch time?
Raps really thought the victory was locked up and let the grisslies steal this one. ugh.
ah well, on to the next game!

also .. can we agree not to switch on everything in the last 2 min of a game? Over and over again Calderon wound up trying to guard Gay. and I love Jose, but he can only do so much against a bigger, faster, more athletic dude.

Turk has not found his groove yet. When he does, he will win some games for us.
November: 14 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 4 APG, 45.2% shooting, 42.4% from three
December: 13.1 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 5.3 APG, 40% shooting, 39% from three
January: 9.8 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 4 APG, 33.6% shooting, 33.3% from three
February: 8.5 PPG, 2 RPG, 3.5 APG, 31.6% shooting, 25% from three
Turk doesn't really have a groove, he just had a very unique role in an offense that didn't have any good ball handling point guards (Orlando) that resulted in many people overrating his abilities as a player. His effectiveness as a player playing in any offense other than Orlando's is solely dependent on him making his threes because he simply won't have the ball handling responsibilities he had there anywhere else.

he's not put in a position to succeed, which is probably as much his fault as everyone else's. he does have some skills, and i think for us to do well in the playoffs, we'll need to take advantage of what he does well.
there were two straight possessions early in the game where he got a pick around the three point line. one time he hit bosh with a pass, which bosh fumbled instead of getting a layup. on the next possession, he got the pick, drove and hit someone (jack?) in the corner for an open three, which was missed. he can make plays at that "point forward" position, but it hasn't happened consistently enough for him to make a positive impact yet. especially if bosh jumps ship, we'll need him to be the guy to unlock a halfcourt defense.
