Full Version: With the 13th pick, the Raptors select Ed Davis

Chris Bosh is his favourite player and he apparently knows DeMar Derozan. This could be good for chemistry, but is it any good for defense? I still can't believe Indiana took Paul George at #10... those fucking bastards.

Davis looks decent. I say we keep him. Don't re-sign Bosh though. He'snot worth 18 million/yr. Hopefully we get a sign and trade. At the same time, you don't want too much turn around on the team. Without Bosh we're already going to see a huge change in direction. The Hedo situation needs to be dealt with, but I don't think he's a complete liability. I'm expecting a lot form Demar this coming season. We'll see ...

solid bargain pick...

he seems a lot like bosh. but without the ego, added lbs, and mid range jumper. for 2 million a season rather than 20. sounds good to me....

Chris Bosh came into the league very humble and without an ego too. In fact the ego didn't really start showing until late this past season.

Toronto gave Bosh his Ego... Any decent player who doesnt ask to be traded before there contract expires will get the same ego... Its partly the medias fault. We try to make one man stand out as "the guy" When the pressure should be on the GM to find 2-3 "core guys" ie) Celtics

Even Kobe has Gasol, Bynum, Odom, Artrest. If any of those guys were in TO they would be expecting to win on their own like Bosh
Lebron had Mo Will, Shaq, Z, and obviously it wasnt enough even with a true superstar.
Howard had Nelson, Carter, Lewis... Still not good enoguh either

Until Toronto can lure 2-3 superstars (no not you Hedo) we have no shot at anything above mediocrity.

Ed Davis... Nice pick... Doesnt change anything about this team

For those who didn't follow the rest of the draft, we also acquired Solomon Alabi from Dallas for a future second rounder and cash (probably about $1 M).

A nice cheap replacement for POB.

I was really pulling for Paul George but what can you do? Not too many surprises in terms of picks.

Davis looks solid, he plays with his back to the basket so that could compliment Bargs game.

Does anyone else think that Cousins will rip it up in Sac Town? I think they have a good young team and with Reke at the helm all Cousins has to do is not F things up.

I was also reading that the Warriors are interested in Hedo.......I could really care less who we get back, Anthony Randolph would be nice.

Didn't think Ed Davis would be there at #13 so getting him has to be a bit of "win" for the Raps. I don't think Davis even worked out for the Raps?? BUT I really like the trade that got Solomon Alabi. From all accounts, his workouts have been very good!

decent draft, smart moves. the real deal is free agency, and i'd love to see us get something decent and hard-working for bosh and turks

4 more days till teams can talk, then until July 8th before trades start roaming around. Hopefully we keep our draft picks.

Good break down of the Pick: http://khandorssportsblog.com/wordpress/20...bout-one-thing/

Im not sure how you can say that was a good breakdown. Most of the stuff he said didnt even make any sence. The word out there is Davis was the best player on the board. Dont know how else you can spin that one. It seemed to me that most were happy with the pick. To be totally honest with you all and not to sound out of line. I was just happy we didnt draft another white guy.

I hope BC is over his "OMG Euro Bigs" faze. Not to say there aren't gritty euro guys but we should maybe be looking for some talent on this side of the ocean and Davis is a step in the right direction.

I called him "Chris Bosh Light" and a friend who follows the draft and college closer than I called him "JYD Light".

Who's closer?

I have not really seen him play outside of some highlights on the net but he seems to have soft hands, handle rebounds and do well with the put backs. he doesn't seem to have the JYD athleticism so I am going to say Bosh?
Handsome_Boy
according to some newspaper articles, his dad lists Charles Oakley as one of his closest friends. anyone who's had that man even remotely involved in his upbringing MUST be good

We're in decent position for the future as far as young guys go.

Andrea Bargnani - Age 24, will score some points for us for two more years at which point I'll trade him since he will have more value then. He'll be a better player then and still have three years left on his deal.

Marco Belinelli - Age 24, good, cheap player.

Ed Davis - Age 21, has some good skills. He's in a good situation for a rookie and will get lots of minutes. I have no issue seeing him go out there and make mistakes so he can learn. Give him 30 minutes per night.

DeMar DeRozan - Age 20, showed good potential last year. He's not going to be a star. Probably a 4th man on a championship team at best, which I'll take.

Amir Johnson - Age 23. I'm glad we resigned him. I'll start him at center next year and give him more minutes and experience than he's ever had a chance to get before. His offense isn't a beauty, but he works hard on defense.

Sonny Weems - Age 24 (today actually), may still improve, although I'm not counting on it.

Solomon Alabi - Age 22, know nothing about him, don't care either. He's a second round bust until he proves me wrong.

Next year we'll have a top 5 pick to do something with as well. And maybe the year after that as well. Hopefully BC doesn't do some deal to screw that up for us.

In the meantime, Calderon, Turkoglu, Wright and Rasho are good time-filler pieces for us. Why doesn't BC want Beasly again? Getting BC would've really sped up the process. He's only 22 and has shown some flashes.

Whoops, Davis can't start over Bargs (yet). Still he can scrape 25-30 min a game from backing up both PF and C.
