Had to be done. The guy's a moron and doesnt deserve his physical talents.
Dre
They'll regeret it in the playoffs, if they make it. McNabb will be begging Reid and company to bring him back, eventually.

Say whatever you want about the guy, he's crazy, asshole, doesn't like his teammates, but the man is a gamer.

He's still one of, if not the, best receivers in the game. I didn't see Kobe getting suspended when he called out Shaq two years ago with Jim Gray when Shaq was still a Laker, or vice versa. Didn't see Vince getting suspended when he said he wants out of Toronto. I just don't think it's relatively fair to T.O., and more importantly as an Eagles fan, this is stupid. Suspend him for a week or two, fine his ass off, but don't suspend him for the whole season. It's not fair to him, to the rest of his teammates or to the fans.

The guy is a goof. This was the best chance he had to win a super bowl, he was on a great team.

How can you constantly criticize your QB when he is one of the best in the game. Would you rather catch passes from Hasselback or Kerry collins?

Guy is a mental case. What a waste of talent.

What!?!? The man comes out and says the team doesn't respect him because they didnt have fireworks for his 100th TD, as they said they don't celebrate individual acheivment. He then proceeds to say his team would be better off with Favre at QB. Essentially dissing his QB who has always tried to make peace with TO, and is battling through injuries that many other couldn't. TO is an egomaniac and got exactly what he deserved. When asked if he would sign TO for the league minumum, Chargers GM, who's team is lacking a great wideout, said he wouldnt allow TO on his team if he didnt get paid anything. He says he'd be suprised if any team took him at this point. He's disrespected his GM, Coach, and QB, all who are considered some of the best people in football, and the best at what they do. His situation is not comparable to Kobe, Shaq or Vince's. Unfair to TO, I don't think so. I don't tihnk they can make the playoffs with or without him, and I think they realize the same thing and would rather make the effort without TO than with him. I couldn't be more happy to see an organization stand up an immature, jerkoff superstar.

We all know Terrel Owens is completley insane.

You know Grizz, I almost wrote 4 paragraphs as a response to explain my stance on this T.O. issue, but before I pressed the "Add Reply" button, I read this Bill Simmons article and found out it sums up all my views on the issue exactly, so I deleted my reply cus Bill Simmons did a better job of delivering (acting out) the other side, which happens to be my side.

anyone whos actually played football knows how much a couple of rotten apples can seriously screw a team up. Never have I played a sport where chemistry wa as important as football. The eagles made the right move.

He's obviously reaching on nearly every point he makes, and it's fairly obvious. When he tries to make the point that Mcnabb should have said "It's going to be tough to win without TO, I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's going to be hard"? Come on, he would have been crucified for saying something like that. He would have been ripped for acting like he had no confidence in his team. Everything pointed to TO not playing, so he threw out a line showing that they could win without him, which is what he should have done. Blaming Andy Reid? Wind Sprints? Come on, I doubt even Simmons beleives that any discipline would have stopped TO. The guy holds press conference/workouts in his driveway, and says his team would be better off with a different QB. That's inexcusable, and he doesn't even have the intelligence to make a real apology until they suspend him. It's mind bogling that someone actually is trying to defend Terrell. This is like a kid acting out at school and buddy trying to blame it on the teacher, the parents, the school and anything else but the kid. At the end of the day, TO can't stop sticking his foot in his mouth, and obviously craves attention more than he cares about his team.

Ok .. you need to stop there. I'm not defending T.O., I'm critiszing the Eagles for making the decision at this point in time and not knowing what they got when they acquired Owens.

Sorry, I obviously misundersttod you. I think they made the decision now because they felt this team was not a superbowl contender, and they had a better shot if they discarded their biggest distraction and went with the "We dont need him" attittude. And To was bad, but never this bad, before he got to the Eagles. I agree they should've have known they might have had to deal with this, but I don't think anyone saw it getting this bad.

For what? For him to become a dominant receiver? He already was. The only thing he could do to shock us is not be a dumbass.

I'll just put Dre under the category of "Looking for attention" because any argument you make in favour of TO is baseless and holds no weight whatsoever. He is a clown.

First off, I'm going to assume that you're referring to TO as the clown, and not me.

Secondly, what are the arguments that I made?? There's nothing to argue regarding TO. He's a great reciever and an as* hole, end of story. Everyone knows it and believes it.

Refresh my memory on the "Any argument you make" part. Ionly made one argument about TO on these boards, and it was about the Eagles management and not Owens directly.

Yes, TO is a clown, not you.

How are the Eagles at fault here? TO is just many of the problems they've had this season. Their second WR Todd Pinkston got hurt in training camp and missed the whole season, the injury to Donovan McNabb was the biggest key because he really never was himself in the nine games he started this year and cost his team dearly.

Now back to TO, yes the Eagles should have been more aware of what they were getting but these are the Eagles, one of the best managed teams in professional sports so they obviously thought TO would fly right especially after getting to the Super Bowl. The Eagles were well within their limits to suspend TO because he was just a constant distraction, he criticized his QB, he criticized his coach and then got into a fight with Hugh Douglas in the locker room. He did almost everything you can do to lose the respect of your team and still the Eagles cut him some slack. I just don't understand how the Eagles are to blame here after all the crap they had to take from him, they gave him plenty of chances but he continued to prove that he is a complete asshole so he left team no choice regarding the severity and timing of the punishment.

Apparently people feel it's the Eagle's fault for giving him a chance to turn his image around and maybe get a Super Bowl ring.....what were they thinking.
Dre
If you people want to take my arguments out of context, well go ahead, because I have never argued in defence of Owens' actions and attitude.

My whole beef with this, is why did they wait until they sunk in the division standings to make this move? They knew they have no chance of making it, specially with Donovan's Hernia and the fact that he requires surgery, that's when they said "Ok, we're obviously aren't going far this year, why don't we just suspend this clown and show people that we don't tolerate crap". And since this is my personal belief of the situation, the Eagles' decision wasn't as sincere as it may seem.

Also, TO gets most of the blame in all of this, but Reid and the Eagles should shoulder some too. If they took actions when the first time Terrell blapered off, maybe it couldn't have gone this far.

P.S- When I said "Y'all wait untill next year", I meant that I was positive Owens would become much less of a headcase after sitting out more than half of the season, and was not referring to his football performance as he's always been a stellar reciever, like you said.
