After watching the Fifa world cup for the last 2 weeks of so, I have come to conclusion that soccer players have the most lateral quickness and mobility in sports ever

running constantly on a 100 meter field for 2 45 minute intervals will do that for you.

I also think that dribbling in soccer is about 2-3 times as hard to learn as ball handling in basketball, most people can dribble a basketball with a decent amount of control...

Alright listen guys, I've been watching soccer since 1993, and never, EVER, have I seen a game with European team against another team from another continent well-officiated. It's the painfull truth and everybody knows it.

When the games are played in Europe, FIFA will do its best not to have the European teams eliminated, because not only does it make more money, it makes the Sponsers, whome FIFA relies heavily on, happy.

The only time a team outside of Europe won a World Cup in Europe was Brasil back in 1958, and even then when I watch the tapes, the refs gave their finest efforts to get them out, but Pele was bigger than them (metaphorically).


I'm a die-hard Brasilian fan, but I know full well (and I expect) the refs to be one-sided if Brasil passes Ghana and runs into France/Spain in the quarter-finals. Sad, but true.


Hey, it wouldn't even shock me if FIFA assigns Dick Bevetta and Bernett Selvator to call the games.

I don't think Italy EVER got destroyed by anybody. Not that I'm a fan...i really hate those italians and their style of play, but even when they faced the best team in the world at one point (France of 6 years ago) they led until like the final min, and eventually lost 1-2 in extra time.

I think its up in the air betwin Germany and Italy. Today's games are going to be great! I hope Portugal beats England...again (ha ha!) and France beats Brazil again.

I actually thought they were solid with Rooney out. The defense limited Portugual's chances and Lennon, Hargreaves, and Crouch were still working to create something. I think England deserved to win but you can't say they didn't have their chances. If Lampard could've just put the ball in the net especially (there was also the clear handball in the box that the ref didn't call). Shootouts are exciting but unfortunately I think that both England and Argentina deserved to win their matches.

St Claire and Woodbridge went nuts. I was sitting outside at work, which is roughly 2 KM away from woodbridge, all i heard was car horns.

If Portugual beats France, St Claire is gonna be a warzone with all the porkchops and Italianos.

Im a portugal fan but went down to little italy after the game and just got home.. place was going nuts and the cops were out in full force on their bicycle's!!! lol mad fun tho cant wait to see a portugal italy final

Portugal's gonna win. Thierry Henry and Patrick Viera will get red-carded. Zizou will have a good game but will be over-shadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick. In the finals. Luca Toni and Pauleta will score. Luca Toni and Zambrotta will gat injured in extra time. They will go into a penalty shootout and Portugal will win. Miroslav Klose will get the Golden Boot and Cristiano ronaldo will get the golden ball.

i'm sorry that canada allows people to keep their cultural heritage and doesn't force them into blind patriotism and support of their country like our neighbours down south do. i'm a 3rd generation canadian and i'm still proud to have italian heritage, if that is so offensive to you, maybe you've gotta check yourself.

Exactly, can't have "patriots" like PBI telling us to change our culture when last time I checked, the many different cultures contribute to Canada. Even if I changed my name, I'm still proud to rep the land of Guyana (we really need a soccer team )

i understand that there are people who live here and are greatly benefitted by canada and everything it provides but still consider themselves members of their home country first, and i don't necessarily agree with that; but multiculturalism is part of canada's national identity and people's diversity is what makes canada so great.

i got tons of laughs seeing a bunch of wops at the bar last night with italian flags and them today driving around town with italian flags hanging out of their cars.

First of all, HB knew exactly what I meant, he just wanted to put words in my mouth and make me look like an asshole by spouting about his heritage and all that touchy feely crap that is totally irrelevant to my point. Second of all, if you really cared about the game you would support Canada’s fledgling domestic soccer program so maybe one day they can develop talent within the country and maybe just maybe qualify for the World Cup in the near future. All I’m saying is show Canada some respect and help improve the game in this country before you go cheering for a country you’ve never been to and one that hasn’t done as much for you as Canada has.
