Brazil will definitely win it's 6th World Cup title this year.

A side that consists of incredible footballers like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Adriano, only to name a few, it's unimaginable that any team is going to beat this Brazilian team with such depth and talent.

How many threads do you start a day?

And yes Brazil is the fav, but Italy and the home team are in contention as well.

Watch out for Cameroon and Ghana. They have made noise.
Swirsk_Is_Back
Look out for Iran. For years they've been the best team in Asia but politics have prevented them from making the world cup. They could be a surprise team.
Ballahollic
I love the passion of this sport, people from every different part of the world cheering for there teaam... and yelling "GOAL!!!!" uncontrollable when your team scores.

The fact that i was born in Italy has made a fan for Italy. (just don't ask me about players, names and stuff.. but i know the rules and the love for the game).
sim_city87
Brazil is the king till proven otherwise.
vanillashake
Italy, Brazil, its all the big name teams that are the contenders.

You will never see a Cameroon win the wolrd cup. They make the headlines by pulling off an upset here or there.

If Canada ever made it would anyone care? I remember going to see them play against oher countries her in friendly games and each time theres always more fan support for the other teams nonoabove.gif

Maybe Cameroon in the African Nations Cup, but in the 2006 WC, the answer is no. They didn't even qualify! Yes, cameroon's Etoo is more machine then man when it comes to scoring goals, but the problem with many African nations is that , yes, they too are afflicted with that uncanny Raptor ability to have a passing interest in defence.

Of the African nations, Ivory Coast could have done well, but they were pooched by being placed in a group with Argentina and Holland.

Should be a fun WC though. Don't discount the Argies, and the Dutch may do something, but only if they can avoid any 'penalty kicks' situation. Van Basten has them kickin it ol' school Ajax-style. That would be something though, the hated Dutch winning it all in Germany.

I hate all the Italians that come out of the woodwork during the world cup. All of a sudden they have accents and this over the top devotion to a country they have never been to.

I'm half-italian so I am exposed to it alot.

When any of them ask me..make that ASSUME..that I'm cheering for the Italians, I always say.."Is Canada in it??...no??...then I dont care.."

You'd think I just beat their mother with a statue of the virgin Mary. rolleyes.gif

ya yer not alone, that irritates me too. same with portuguese rooting for brazil, but theyve never been there, and 5th generation anglo canadians rooting for england...
kleinjohn
Brazil is gonna win. With Ronaldinho and Robinho they're unstoppable.
Swirsk_Is_Back
what pisses me off the most about the italians is when they lose, they always blame the officiating.

"Yo bro, the refs were paid, bro"
Handsome_Boy
as a proud wop, i'll have you know that it's always the fault of the officiating

I know this isn't totally the right place but I didn't think it would get that many responses in an independent thread but did anyone catch the game between the Canadian and Brazilian U20's on Friday? I just watched the last 25 minutes when it was already 2-1 for Canada but I was really impressed. It was an exciting wide open style and the Canadians were really outworking the Brazilians. Will Johnson looked really good. It would be nice to have some Canadian players to get excited about (other than on the women's side). There were also 14 000+ fans at the game in Edmonton on the same night as the Oilers were playing.

Canada lost 3-1, yesterday to Brazil in u-20. As far as im concerned until the country acknowledge's that there are kids in Canada playing soccer, we will never crack the top 50 in the world, ever.
sim_city87
I want Italy to lose so Woodbridge can light itself on fire.

I am so happy the world cup is being hosted by the greatest football nation around.

It will be a delight.

But that's the whole fun of the World Cup, I like getting angry because something happened to a country that I have little-to-no connection to.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

World Cup fever has begun!

England wins...half of me is happy...my fathers side..

I missed the match. I got the TnT v Sweden game and England v. Paraguay match mixed up. Whatever. As long as I don't miss Ukraine or Brazil. Hoping Shevchenko is near 100%.

On a side note, I picked Ecuador as a darkhorse to advance past their group in my pool at work, they'll need at least a tie still, but I could be looking like a genius (despite the fact the pick was purely emotional).

btw, I didn't know Scott was once again tolerating multiple ID's from furiousstyles (or had even allowed furious back despite multiple bannings).

sim_city87
TnT didn't get killed!! It's a party!!! tongue.gif

that was one awkward celebration. They got one point (there first) but still

some swedish fans were crying

Sweden was supposed to murder them, but they couldn't even score against the supposed worst team in the Cup. Is that a reason to cry? Maybe.

I Googled "World Cup Schedule" because I forgot what game I missed while I was at work and wanted to see whether it would be a matchup I'm interested in (without finding out the score). The first result that comes up when you google "World Cup Schedule" is the score of the most recently play game. banghead.gif

That England/Paraguay game was kind of weird. Paraguay looked like they had never played soccer before for the first 15 minutes and then were competitive for the rest of the game (although that lack of shots will get you ever time). Peter Crouch was handcuffed by the refs though, I hope it's not like that every game.
Soulless
That Costa Rica and Ivory Coast game was fun to watch. I was actually really impressed with Ivory Coast. They were really competitive and were in attack mode the whole time.

It was actually argentina playing ivory coast, unless you're referring to the Costa Rica-Germany game as well, in which case I apologize.

In about 45 min the game betwin Serbia and the Netherlands is going to start. I think its going to be the best one so far.
Ballahollic
1-0 for Brazil after the first half....

Even though Ronaldhino hasn't done anything much yet, you can tell by the way he moves with the ball that he is much better then anyone else on the field.
sim_city87
Teh Brazil won. And over in America, people suddenly care about soccer after the US got Czeched 3-love.

I don't know who to cheer for. I like Brazil, Italy, Mexico, Ivory Coast and Portugal.

I'm personally going for the african countries. Fridge Europe. Europe hasn't been cool since Micahel Jackson went there to molest children.

That's a lotta teams to cheer for. I only have Brazil and Trinidad (it's a West Indian thing, plus I like how they played against Sweden), and a half cheer for Germany because I like Dirk Nowitzki and seeing the home team win. And those VW commercials crack me up. "Unpimp ze auto"

Nat
lmao... my area was going nuts when korea won yesterday.... get used to it for this summer
throwitdownbigman
Man, what a heartbreaker for Poland (they would've be in tough to qualify for the next round even with the tie but tying Germany still would've been big for them).
dunkmachine II
Man the Polaks almost had the chance to advance. Watever there is still hope for the next world cup. rockout.gif

Argentina just pimpslapped Serbia.

When I was younger I always used to cheer for Argentina for some reason (In the 94 and 98 World Cups). Now I have an Argentinian friend so I feel like a tool cheering for them when I have no connection to them at all. But I'm still secretly rooting for them.

So what? I don't think there's any Brazilian in me, but I cheer anyway. Maybe it's because I don't know any Brazilians. ninja.gif

*sigh* Too bad TnT is dunzo, unless there is some serious intervention. Not scoring a single goal will do that to a team.
Ballahollic
How did Angola leave the arena with a tie. Mexico hit the bar 5 + times wtf.gif

I watched that game, they owned them. Did anyone else see that one play where Argentina had 24 consecutive passes before they scored. I think it was 24, anyways it was simply beautiful. It was like AND1 soccer, if there is such a thing. They were just playing keep-away , it was hilarious, it was so embarrasing for SCG.
Soulless
GO GHANA!! Maximum respect to them for beathing the czechs.
